I’m no longer publishing on Substack
I’ve been struggling for a while with some tension about the way Substack is going. I came here for blog writing, not for another social media platform. When Substack first introduced the Notes feature it was a good way to find interesting articles , it quickly became something else, and is now just another version of the social media apps I try to avoid.
I’ve been aware for a long time of the founders views on publications that are quite frankly dangerous to society and the arrival of Andrew Tate reinforced my opinion that the founders/owners of Substack are not interested in any harmful effects of their platform - just as other social media owners are not interested. The arrival of Nigel Farage here today is the final straw for me. I cannot in good conscience stay publishing content on this platform. I imagine nobody will notice me leaving as I’ve never really spent much time on this publication but I didn’t want to ghost people hence this post.
I am staying as a reader on Substack as I support a couple of women with their publications and want to continue to do so. However, moving forward I will be building my own blog on a website that I own. Once it is ready I will add the link to my profile.
If you’ve ever read any of the random things I’ve written, thank you, I’m grateful for your support.
